PART 1 - Vesak Day (Bukit Timah Hill + Spiderman III)

Err. Last Thursday (31-May-07) was Vesak Day ( i think ). Went to Bukit Timah to hike or whatever you call it with my 2 cousins (Eileen and Alvin) and my brother, of course. My father tagged along briefly but went his own way after awhile. So basically, picked my cousin (Eileen) from Boon Keng MRT and my father drove us to Bukit Timah Hill lor. Alvin was fetched by his father. We all met up there at uhh... Around 11am I think. Then my father suddenly said he wanted to come along. (lol. unplanned surprise/shock/horror) Then the first part was to tire you out. =.= Purposely go make the road so steep. But still nothing much compared to Gunung Lambak from VS Sec 3 Camp. After that, we were already like perspiring. Then we continued walking.. My father was tired. Then he decided to take the straight route to the summit and we took a longer route around the place which would bring us to the summit only later. Lol. Eileen's absolutely horrendous and destructive excellent navigation made us walk one way and walk back like a few times? In the end, we just don't care and walk and walk... Then we made it to Eileen's and Alvin's worst nightmare.

LOL! There was one huge flight of STEEP stairs up the summit. My bro and I just walked up lor. Nothing much, actually. Lol. Eileen and Alvin struggled. When they got up to the summit, they were like totally energy-less. (especially Eileen). And btw, lemme tell you... The summit is PATHETIC. There wasn't any freaking scenery and it was like so low lah. After that, we had 2 paths to choose. (it was already around 12pm) We could choose the straightforward path down but my brother, the 'act-smart' one, decided to go for the one that is more challenging than a normal road path. So, we just followed him lor. Haha. After that, suddenly the thing become damn steep, with stairs. And it was quite scary la. You look down like very high then the stairs all so steep. Lol. By the time three of us boys reached the bottom of this stairs (yeah. we're going downwards), Eileen was still stuck at the top, afraid to come down. For better understanding and learning (LOL. NCC Mutual), here are some photos to see how excellent & professional Eileen was when she came down those stairs.

Lol. It's damn funny lah. I mean she can freaking walk down like normal on those stairs lor. -_-" Anyway, we continued walking, and walking... and walking... walking somemore... We were supposed to reach the bottom by the time we realised that something must be wrong. Lol. We were like walking around aimlessly, just hoping we were going the right way. Anyway, I took some random pictures for "rememberance".

Anyway, we soon realised that we took a bloody wrong path and instead of going down the hill, we were going upwards. (though not uphill). We were on the freaking Dairy Farm Loop and we had like dunno how many km to backtrack. Sigh. Then it was worse when we found out there was ALOT, ALOT, ALOT of stairs to climb. Eileen almost gave up sia. Literally. Lol. She wanted a helicopter to go rescue her. Anyway, it was really quite alot of steps. Here are somemore additional pictures.

And the rest was just nothing that important lor. After like 20 minutes, we finally got onto the main track and took another 10 minutes to walk downhill to get down to the base. Lol. Just nice sia. When we got into the car, it started raining damn heavily. My father then brought the 4 of us to Whampoa Market for lunch. Lol. Okay la the food. After that, we wanted to go watch Spider Man 3 but then most of the cinemas that still show it only have late showtimes or the afternoon ones were fully booked. In the end, Eileen just went home, probably conscious of the black sauce stain on her shirt after eating chicken rice.

After that, Alvin came to our house and we used computer, ate dinner, watch TV and all that. We decided to go for the 9.45pm Spiderman show. We went to Plaza Singapura and we booked the tickets online somewhere in the late afternoon. We got our tickets, bought popcorn and the cheese hotdog thing, which I find a rip-off cos' it's like one bloody normal sausage for freaking $2. But it was okay in taste la. Just a bit unreasonable in the pricing. Anyway, Spiderman III was... dunno how to say lah. It was quite ... okay as a movie but I don't know why but I didn't feel particularly excited by the movie and stuff. Still a good movie nontheless. Anyway, after that, Alvin's father fetched us home and it was like 12.30am already. And that's it for Vesak Day's adventure. :P

Post-Exam Activities (Wed/Thu) + NCC Live Range

Have some stuff to blog about... regarding today and yesterday. As *most* of you should've known, post-exam activities are on and blah blah blah la. Yesterday was, Wednesday (duh) and we had to vote for this year's Head Prefect... Our class had the 8.30am timeslot and I was one of the first few in my class to vote. Lol. We just chiong-ed downstairs and wanted to get it over and done with ASAP, and we did. ;) Anyway, after that, we had like 1hr+ to kill till our next activity. So we watched Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest. Of course, we only could watch part of it. After that, we had this "Making $ense of Money" talk. Quite "informative" but at the same time boring and repetitive. Sian. Some angmoh speaker.. what "Brydon". Lol. After that we had a 45-minute timeframe to basically do whatever we want. I think most of us went for recess. Lol. After that, we had... *drum roll* Sexuality Education.

Lol. THANK GOD, THANK GOD it was in the AIR-CONDITIONED auditorium. Oh my goodness. The bloody talk was 2hr 15mins sia. First part, talked about influence of media on us (sexually) and they kept emphasizing that our lives is greatly influenced by things like music/videos, adverts and stuff. Lol. Then they showed us an example, My Humps by Black Eyed Peas and they let us hear the song. Then the first speaker, who was Mr.Hazrin, actually went to read out the lyrics and if it was to be taken like he said that, it was HILARIOUS. Imagine this teacher, about 40-years old standing in front of 350 teenage boys saying "The boys they wanna sex me. Tryin' a feel my hump, hump. Lookin' at my lump, lump.". Everyone was laughing out loud as he continued. Then the next parts became a little boring with some stuff about dating, breaking up, pre-marital sex and blah blah blah. Lol. Sianz. Oh yeah. Apparently, the physical intimacy after kissing is prolonged kissing, followed by light petting, followed by heavy petting and finally sexual intercourse. Interesting. Didn't know that. *acts innocent* Haha. Right...

Then after that, Mr Imran (FT) told me, Zhong Yi, Xin Wenn and Jia Yang to stay behind to help him do some stupid thing for Science Day the following day. Lol. Turns out he wanted 70 bundles of 30 straws each wrapped around with 5 masking tape circling around it. Sian. Damn waste time sia. Took us like 35 minutes before we finished all of them. (well, Xin Wenn pang-seh us like halfway...) Then anyway, after we were done, we stacked them up pyramid style. Here's a picture for those in dizziness from the words.

So now for today. Hmm. We had "Science Day" the whole day. Lol. First activity was to be held at the Auditorium and was about astrology, specifically stars and constellations. They had this omini-theatre like thing from the science center brought into the audi and then it's some funny sphere-like inflated balloon and we went in and see this see that. Inside was so damn bloody dark. And as usual, my class made ALOT of noise inside. Damn comical sia. After that, we were headed for the AVA Room to do something about Physics and we had to construct a 50-cm tower and then drop a marble and let it land into the red box. Lol. My group (Jim, Zhong Yi, Zheng Yu, Max & I) were like damn slack lor. Then we randomly came up with the idea (mainly Jim's inspiration) and it looked damn funny, so much different from the other groups. It didn't turn out as disastrous as we imagined and we were pretty close on our first attempt. Anyway, the third one was a chemistry-related one where we made a nanomolecular solution thingy. Pretty cool. Nice to do these type of experiments in the Chem.Lab w/o the stress of having to complete the work in such a short time frame.

Lol. We managed to make red and purplish gold. Quite "nice" if you're interested in those stuff. Then I couldn't go for the 4th and final one which was 'Save the Egg' which I think would have been pretty fun. (this was the one that needed the straws) Sigh. Had to leave early for NCC's live-shoot. Lol. Real rifle, real ammo sia. Anyway, we left school at around 1pm or so and Mr.Vanan damn budget sia. Usually we will charter a bus there and back to VS for these type of things but he didn't do that. Instead, we had to utilise the Victoria Hostel's yellow van and Mr.Vanan's own car to bring us to HQ Amoy Quee Camp. Lol. 11 people cramped into the van and the other 3 in his red car. Once there, wait wait wait. Then shoot shoot shoot. Lol. Damn freaking nervous sia. Somemore the red-hot shells fly here fly there. Sian. Did badly for another NCC shoot. Sigh. I think out of 10, the most I can get is like 5. Sigh. At least closer to a pass this time. But still rather disappointing. After that, we got the briefing on NCC DAY PARADE and the CHANGE OF COMMAND PARADE. Then we also got the Spec Course briefing and blah blah blah. Left HQ and then took bus to YCK Bus Interchange and from there took Bus 13 with Clement, reaching home at only 6.45pm or so.

SA1 Results (Pt 2)

Today is the last day for checking of scripts. First thing. Mother Tongue. Sian la. Chinese was freaking horrible. Whole class, in fact, whole level practically screwed up for Chinese paper. Zuo Wen was a pathetic 28/50 (i was one of the higher ones. zzz) and Letter-writing was 16/20 (highest in CL3/3 i think). Then the main paper, Paper 2. Lol. I got 39.5/70. Sad sia. But once again, I was like one of the top few. Then after Chinese, was Chemistry. Lol oh my god. Mdm Farrah reads my blog. *suspicious* Lol. Kidding about the suspicious part. Anyway, class MSG for Chem is 7.7 sia. Scary! Thank god, I got 55/90, which is just scrape into a B4 grade, roughly 60% liddat. Even with the crappy result, I think I'm like in the Top 5 in my class for Chem. Aahh. I hope my Chem improves next semester. After Chem was basically nothing, until recess. After recess was... Geog/SS. Sian. My most feared one. I really thought my Geog would be TOTALLY screwed up because (i dunno if it's finding excuses) A Maths was on the same day and I had to mug more on A Maths because I'm generally weaker in that than my humanities.

Anyway, I got 18.5/30 for my Geog paper (despite only getting 0.5 / 5 for mapwork.. zz. forgot to read my notebook on mapwork notes. damn irritating) and to my disappointment, my SS (Social Studies) only got 18/30. Sigh. I really, truly expected like at least like 21~23/30. But... what's done is done and I think next term/semester, Geog/SS would be a priority for me. Next... (lastly) was Literature. Dunno what to say la. Happy that I top the class? Sad that I didn't get an A1? Sad that I wasn't that outstanding as I'd have expected. I got 71/100, which was an A2, which is apparently the highest amongst the 10 3G Lit ppl. Linus got 2nd with 70 I think. Aaah. Shoot la. I think I misinterpreted the freaking poem. My MND one was damn nice sia. First question. 20/25 (yah. just ONE question. write 3 1/2 pages) Anyway, I counted my L1R5, purely from SA and it's around 13. Actually pretty good since most people in the cohort/class did like much worse. If I'm lucky, after adding CA1 component, this amount will be reduced to something like 11 or if lucky 10. Tomorrow we'll be getting the final grades. Aaah! Panic. Oh wait, actually no. I feel so numb for my results le. First time sia.

SA1 Results (Pt 1), NCC Mutual Test

So basically today, throughout like... the whole day (8am-1.05pm), we went through 4 papers. Supposed to be 5 but Mdm.Farrah was unsurprisingly absent. So we couldn't get back our Chem. Anyway, first paper to get back really rendered me super disappointed. It was the English Paper and the Compo paper, particularly the magazine report, really really disappointed me. Don't even want to say anymore. Overall only a pathetic 65.6/100 for the 2 papers. Hopefully with Oral and CA1, it'll be pulled up to an A2. =)So not too bad, especially since most did worse than me. Then after slacking around for awhile, Mr.Imran came in and we checked our Physics Paper next. Whee. In the end, got 83/100. =D I think I was like 3rd in class or something. ^^ Damn happy for physics. After that, went for recess and ate some funny noodle thing, before returning to class for E/A Maths by Mr.Pang.

First paper was E Maths and I was like practically LAUGHING when Mr.Pang said 25/41 people failed, only 3/16 of the passes get A1/A2 and the class MSG is like 6.7 plus or something. In the end, I got 61/100 and was fairly pleased la. With CA1, there's a possibility that it'll go up to an A2, worst come to worst, a B3. Then we got back A Maths. Laughed again when Pang said that class MSG is 6.6+ and AGAIN 25 people failed. Lol. I actually got 75/100 sia. Even higher than E Maths and I think I'm 3rd in class (tied with Davis) or something like that. Haha. But CA1 will probably pull it down to a low A2 but it's still pretty good. Anyway, after that, still had NCC Mutual Test and was pretty nervous. We were going to be tested on our general teaching abilities on footdrills as well as Individual Fieldcraft. (IFC) Lol. After awhile, it was less stressful and especially when they split us into sections for higher efficiency. I was under CLT Jin Jian, and presented my footdrill mutual of Berhenti and my IFC mutual of Target Indication. I think I did pretty well for both. Anyway, that's all. Remember to tag.

Sianz...

So exams for me is now really actually over. Lit Paper 1 on Monday and Paper 2 yesterday was relatively easy. But the part about writing 16~18 pages for 4 25 mark questions is quite absurd. It actually used up 2 of my FULL pens. But honestly, Lit is fun for me. Much better than Maths or whatever. So today and tomorrow is most of the Sec 3's free day. (xcept those AEP people) But anyway, have to do some stuff during these 2 days. Need to get my NCC badges and then stick them onto some name-tag thing. Then have to study for the NCC Mutual Test on Friday (walao.. damn sian) and also maybe go cut my hair. Feel so lazy to do any of the above. =( Haix. Sian!! That's all for today. Oh yeah. And I just realised again that I'm screwed for the Geography paper. SCREWED

New Blogskin, Post-Exams

Whee... Exams are finally over! Woohoo! Lol... Actually, not really. Still got Lit Paper 1 and 2 on Mon and Tues. But Paper 1 don't really need to study and Paper 2 just have to read the book (Midsummer's Night Dream) So anyway, I finally got out of my laziness and created the 4th blogskin for Hell-Breaks-Loose. =D I think it's not bad ba. I like the top picture. Quite cute. ^^ Anyway, I've formatted it a little different this time around. This time the blog entries box is bigger and I've basically combined the Tagboard, Profile and Music boxes as one big one on the right. Anyway, now that most of the exams are over, time to give my opinions/views/expected results.

  • English Language
    Difficulty: 6/10 (Composition) , 8/10 (Comprehension)
Expected Results: 43~46/60 (Narrative + Magazine), 35~40/50 (Compre + Summary)
Comments: Compo was standard la. Quite okay. Compre was quite difficult sia! Questions are much more challenging and stuff. Summary was around average there.

  • Chinese Language
    Difficulty: 6.5/10 (Compo) , 8/10 (Comprehensions + Cloze Passage)
    Expected Results: B4~A2
Comments: Lol. The compo was pretty okay but the paper 2 was ridiculous. So much to do sia... 1 close passage and then must read 5 freaking li jie wen da passages and do 1 MCQ compre and 2 OE compre. Crazy Chinese Department.

  • E Maths
    Difficulty: 8.5/10
    Expected Results: B4~A2
Comments: Sian. One of the hardest paper in SA1. Haiz. I can either do very badly and get most the answers wrong or miraculously those weird-weird answers turn out to be correct. :P

  • A Maths
    Difficulty: 6.5 /10
    Expected Results: A2~A1
Comments: Extremely surprising that the A Maths paper turned out really well. Gosh. Much better than E Maths and I'm fairly confident of it. Hopefully nothing big goes wrong and I can get an A. =D

  • Geography Elective
    Difficulty: 6.5/10 (SS) 8.5/10 (Geog)
    Expected Results: B3~A2 (combined)
Comments: Social Studies was fairly okay but I definitely screwed up my Geog. Mapwork probably 0/5. Then the 25 marks question. No time to study much Geog as A.Maths was on the same day! =( Highly disappointing.

  • Physics
    Difficulty: 6/10
    Expected Results: A1
Comments: Another really really surprising one. Wow. It was really so dam easy sia. Fairly confident of an A1, if not A2.

  • Chemistry
    Difficulty: 7/10
    Expected Results: B3~A2
Comments: Relatively easy. Not as difficult as I thought, at least. But I had to mug like siao in order to understand the concepts. Haiz. Section C worth 20 marks. Gonna pull me down like siao.
